Symodata (Pty) Ltd has been a niche value-added reseller of computer hardware and software since 1986 when it started selling dBase III.

The company maintains a low profile, concentrating on sales to smaller entities as well as to larger companies through personal connections and word-of-mouth referrals. SymoData generally focusses on distributing laptops, PC’s and packaged software such as MS Office.

 

Previously, the company owned a Cape Town based developer of ERP software, iSoft (Pty) Ltd, which was subsequently sold. Other interests that were exited include a company that financed servers and high-end equipment and rented them to end-users on a long term basis.
